GLASS
Kate Gooding and Jill Lebor have been artists in glass, jewellery, industrial design and fine art for many years. They have recently pooled their knowledge and skills to form Apsley Designs
Using a variety of methods they create unique pieces, ranging from small delicate bowls to large sculptures. One of the methods used is called hot glass technique. The designs are first of all made into flat panels by cutting and fusing together glass of different colours and shapes; these are fired in the kiln at temperatures around 750 c depending on the final effect required.
They are then put back into the kiln at a lower temperature, either onto moulds or draped over forms to create the finished shape. Some panels are left flat, these are set in stands or framed allowing the light to shine through the vibrant colours, making the most of the intrinsic quality of the glass. The resulting pieces are highly individual and can never be repeated exactly.
We are also showing two unusual pieces by Karen Verma and we do stock other designers including Adam AAronson
